The winners were the Dazz BandвЂ™s вЂњLet It WhipвЂќ for Best Performance by a Group or Duo and Earth Wind and FireвЂ™s вЂњWanna Be with You.вЂќ That evening also marked a first for Cleveland, Ohio, as Dazz Band was the first R & B Group to bring home a Grammy. That night the Dazz Band ended up in a rare tie. King & The Crusaders, and Earth Wind & Fire. The 25th Annual Grammy Awards took place on Februat the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The success of вЂњLet It WhipвЂќ led to a Grammy Nomination for Best Performance by a Group or Duo. Over the next year вЂњLet It WhipвЂќ spent 5 weeks at #1 on BillboardвЂ™s R & B charts, and crossed over to BillboardвЂ™s Pop chart landing at #5.
